Why not to choose Aisle seats on a plane

1. Food trolley hits my elbow.
2. Excessive interruptions resulting from other passenger’s bio needs.
3. Stuff falling on my head, because some passenger decides to open the luggage compartments.
4. Scary thought of drinks, served to co-passengers, falling on my laptop or just clothes.
5. Passengers entering my personal space, as they give passage to others while waiting in the aisle.

Here is my latest one…
6. No space left for my carry-on in the overhead compartments, because on some airlines like United, aisle passengers are the last ones to board.

Reward yourself with rest

During holidays, I retweeted on a very good idea to give your employees the gift of rest: http://bit.ly/8JxL6Z. If you haven’t received this gift, reward yourself with some rest.

You are working extra hard for your employer during this recessionary period probably out of fear of losing your job. Even when you are physically with your family, your mind is thinking about the gossip of layoffs at work, work related politics or excessive pressure from your boss to meet some unrealistic goal. All this is causing extreme stress to you, your spouse as well as your kids. Your kids must be wondering how to take the place of that laptop that is always glued to your lap or how to replace that blackberry in your hand with a ball.

So go ahead, reward yourself with gift of rest and relax your mind. Here are some ideas to give rest to your mind

- Take a vacation
- Spend time with your kids, friends and family.
- Spare time for your hobby
- Do what you do best, don’t worry about the outcome or things that are beyond your control
- Stop thinking about work all the time.

India trip

I came back from India after taking about 3 week vacation. After I landed in Amritsar and saw my bags getting destroyed by the broken conveyor belt I was pretty sure that this trip is going to be very stressful. But after that all seemed to go well and this trip was nothing but fun and relaxing.

I only visited two cities – Amritsar and Ludhiana. Some things have really changed since last time I was there 4 years ago. All those huge shopping malls with stores selling all the multinational brands, multiplex theaters, MacDonald’s indianized burgers tasting better than North American burgers and Pizza Hut yummiest “Paneer Tikka Pizza”.

Every 5th store seem to be a fast food shop selling different kinds of spicy foods and all of those are fully packed. Even though I was concerned about eating that food, but it is very hard to resist. I didn’t miss on this opportunity.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the traffic and lack of discipline on roads. I call it the “Where I can see I have the right of way” law. Bravo to the Amritsar Police who were trying to run a campaign to improve the traffic situation. Lets be hopeful that this will also change.

Overall a very fun and memorable trip.
